So, how about that election, eh?
If you didn't know I'm part of the blue wave, well, surprise!
As first, I will admit to being a bit disappointed in the results from Florida. Like, look at what Texas did! South Carolina! Mississippi!
But when you drill down a bit, the tide really turned in a big way. Check this out during early voting:
And how close we came in some big races:
And went blue in a few:Including mine:
And there were more blue, and a few that are still too close to call (I'm getting these from here).
I think the election in 2028 in Florida is going to be VERY interesting.
Nationally, I have seen some people online who are, or claim to be, confused at how the overall map can look red but the state went blue. For the visual learners, there are many examples that explain why; here are some I found.
This one is particularly tidy in showing how many reps each state gets, and how red or blue they went.
For a more state-specific example, say hi to Illinois. An awful lot of the population lives in or near Chicago, doesn't it?
In conclusion:
So! I hope that clears up any confusion. Speaking of Florida, I wish the incoming governor (who is, sadly, non-Democratic and a fan of the president) good luck dealing with the budget evisceration that comes from Amendment 3 passing. Without state income tax, which Florida doesn't have, property taxes paid for a lot of government services, and higher property tax exemption is going to cut a lot of budgets past the point of pain. RIP my library, etc.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Then on Sunday, it's my day to see all the episodes of Heated Rivalry in the movie theater! Some theaters are showing it in a marathon, but my nearest one is not, and I'm okay with having a longer break between, and not having to worry about being 'late' to the next part.
Don't worry, the theater will get plenty of money from me (using my Heated Rivalry-faced credit card): I will be buying popcorn and soda (in the commemorative containers if they have them), and probably a soft pretzel and maybe chicken fingers ... it's a long day, okay? But I wanted to bring these, too.
Do you have a favorite movie-theater candy choice? I rarely get Junior Mints outside the movies, but I like to have them there.
