There's a proposal in Florida to make it so that cars would have to have a front license plate, as well as the rear plate currently required, and while we don't know if it will become law, my mother and I were talking about it recently and I said that I would be sorry to give up my current, decorative front plate.
I told her that I knew someone in Massachusetts who had a specialty plate that said KNITTAH, which is pretty funny if you are familiar with the Boston accent, and I said I'd have to look into what I could get in Florida. The state has a website where you can check to see if a plate is available, which is nice so you can play around with choices before you have to go in.The woman there was super helpful, and in about ten minutes, my "reservation" was in and she will call me when they come in. Here's what it looks like, in black and white, at least.
I told her my local knitting friends would be jealous, and she looked and said that KN1TTER with a 1 was still available, FYI.
Anyway, if you're ever driving around Florida and see a Kia Soul with the KNITTER plate, give me a wave!
Here in California, vehicles are supposed to have both front and rear license plates, but a lot of cars don't. Weird. Also I think it's illegal to tint your front side windows, but jeez, people do it all the time.
ReplyDeleteI like your KNITTER plate, it's perfect for you!
Oh that's WONDERFUL!!! I saw one parked in front of the LYS a few years ago that said K1P2K1. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun! Where we live (NS) you don't need a front plate, but in neighbouring NB, you do!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great plate and so appropriate. WA requires front plates but mine is just a boring one since it costs more to license if you have a specialty plate.
ReplyDeleteHere in Ohio (aka Texas-on-Erie), the legislators voted to abolish the requirement of a front license plate last year or the year before. They did this despite strenuous objection from law enforcement.
ReplyDeleteVanity plates here cost significantly more. Yours would be worth it, I know. It's great for you!
Your car would definitely stand out to me, because my son also has a Kia Soul so I always notice them. Glad you got your plate! My husband also has that "State of the Arts" version of our license plate. And, I didn't know that about front plates in Florida. I never know what's going on, good thing I read your blog.
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun! I'm glad you were able to snag the plate!
ReplyDeleteEek, how fun! I always find custom plates where it's really hard to figure out what they're trying to say really funny, but this one is very clear. "Knittah" is also hilarious. I'm watching season 3 of Reacher with a friend right now and there's a really funny female cop - at one point my friend said "how did she just manage to say 'oops' with a Boston accent?"
