Okay, let me vent first. At my annual exam on Tuesday, my PCP put in the order for my regular mammogram, although I'm not due until December, and this led to the radiology place sending me both a text and an email to call and schedule it. In fact, I got both messages on Wednesday, and then again today, and thought, fine, I'll call now and make the appointment for December, just to shut them up.
I called, I had to input my date of birth and zip code, and then the message told me to make the appointment online. (Could I have stayed on the line to make it? Possibly.)
So I went to the website, of course I have to create an account, I put in my info, click the button, and ... nothing happens. It doesn't move to the next screen, it doesn't give me an error message, nothing.
Fuck'em, I'll make the appointment in six months. Grrr, though.

Meanwhile! More fun!
I'm going on a trip this month (so excited!) and I needed to buy a new suitcase, as my old one broke last time I traveled (fortunately not until the end of the return home). As I mentioned, when we went up to the outlets last week and I got the Skechers, I also bought a suitcase, and in a first for me, it's hard-sided, not fabric.
Which means that I can't do something I've done in the past, and use fabric paint to make my suitcase stand out as obviously-even-from-a-distance mine. (I did pick a bright color, though not the taxi-cab yellow I looked at first.) However, I was talking about it with a friend, and she said: stickers.
Ah ha!
So this is the bag:
Anyway, I pulled out my stack of stickers, and while most of them were too large (given the way the suitcase has raised and lowered bits), I found enough that fit to mark all sides.
And I do mean ALL sides:
Shoutout to Ranc's!I did take one sticker that wouldn't fit and make it work.
Now, yes, I do know that they will get scratched and scuffed when the bag is checked. That's okay. I just like it this way. As my mother reminded me, it's what I did to my car as well.
Do you mark up your suitcases in any way? Stickers, paint, bag tag or belt? Anything?

I embellished my carry-on with stick-on cow print felt. Amazingly, it's held up (although I don't travel nearly as much as you do).
ReplyDeleteStickers were a constant school supply for me in the classroom. Even though I taught highschoolers, I found that they all adored getting stickers. Some things never change, right?
There is just something about stickers. I can't explain it.
DeleteFelt! I never would have thought of that.
That's a cool looking suitcase; I love the color! I tie an orange ribbon around my handle. I use a Rick Steves carry on bag. I try not to check luggage if possible.
ReplyDeleteChecking bags is a pain (and a risk), but I do like having the option.
DeleteI love this! I especially love the three-part book series you created.
ReplyDeleteI've bought a number of Buffalo Wool bison/silk socks over the years--I like them and my husband won't wear any other sock now--and they always put a Buffalo Wool Co sticker in the package. So I put those on my suitcase, plus I tie a bright length of bulky wool yarn on the handles to make it easy to spot from a distance.
A number of those stickers have not made it through traveling, but the yarn does.
We have a brown Hermes ribbon on our black suitcase, which makes the ribbon virtually invisible. LOL. I don't know what's wrong with us.
ReplyDeleteI can't exactly explain that, but whatever! Have fun with it. For me, I like to have it be perfectly obvious to others that this is not your bag.
DeleteWhat a beautiful suitcase! I only travel carryon now, so no need to embellish. Not that I embellished before, because our old suitcases, when we did check luggage, were bright orange. There was no missing them!
ReplyDeleteI think I just enjoy decorating things this way; I would do it even if it was only ever going to be checked.
DeleteFriends and I have a shared suitcase - we have to visit each other to transfer ownership (we live in different spots around the world). We started putting stickers on it for each state and country that it visits!
ReplyDeleteThat is SUCH a fun idea!
