On Friday, I'm having a procedure done. Operation? Surgery? Thing. I'm not sure how much the language of it matters. I'm having an outpatient experience? Even the paperwork is unsure (both of the terminology and the need for a dash):
Speaking of uncertain terminology, I'm either having a fibroid or a polyp removed, depending on where you look. All I know is, there's a little something in my uterine lining and we're taking it out in hopes that I stop having what we are apparently calling 'bleeding' rather than a period. Speaking of more terminological uncertainty.
Why, yes, I think I am focusing on the language instead of the thing itself, how did you guess? I admit, I'm a bit nervous about it. This is my first surgical-or-whatever experience. Anyone who crosses their fingers for me on Friday, thank you.

I will be thinking of you and hoping that this removal will resolve the issue.
ReplyDeleteI hope the procedure goes well and that the anesthesia doesn't bother you. Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, I hope it all goes smoothly and resolves the issue. I have had friends go through that procedure and it did resolve their issues, so hopefully that will be the same for you. I hope you can just pamper yourself and be cozy for the days following. xo
ReplyDeleteSending best wishes your way for your procedure and recovery. I know Newman will be an excellent nurse.
ReplyDeleteTwo thoughts. My first is, my prayers and good wishes and best thoughts go with you. My second is, what was once a standard way of removing such--morcellation--is the way some OBGYNs were trained to do, but is now only FDA approved for rare circumstances because it can spew cancer cells across the abdomen. The New York Times wrote about a doctor several years back who was made an instant stage 4 cancer patient because her doctor used a morcellator on what they thought were just fibroids, and she campaigned hard for it to be taken off the market.
ReplyDeleteI'd say make sure and get it in writing that they're not using one.
All that aside, I hope it goes easily and heals quickly and solves the problem entirely.
I have had this procedure and it improved things nearly a hundred percent. I will send vehement good thoughts in hopes of manifesting the same for you.
