Florida!
Friday on the beach.
An interesting pair of beachcombers:
And the pelican hits the water, crash!
Gulls and terns (I think royal terns, but who knows)
Impressive balance-and-grooming
Not fully sunny, not completely cloudy
Webbed footprints, caught on film just before the tide erased them
Then there are the birds in the water, pelicans and a smaller escort.
Pelican liftoff
Sandpiper, maybe?
These are ibis.
They have the curved beaks (egrets have straight ones).
Dedicated to the hunt
Can we get no privacy?
Honestly.
Fin! Not shark, but dolphins. Even better.
Saturday. This fisherman at the inlet had company: an egret and a great egret.
They were just hanging around, you know, in case anything came along.
While this guy preferred to do his own work.
Beautiful beach
Really beautiful
Water, sky ... it doesn't suck. (Name that movie)
And even a flower on the beach.
Sunday morning, one last crack at the beach.
My balcony will have palm trees!
More overcast, still beautiful.
More ibis
And another webby-print.
Get the feeling the pair on the right is talking about the other pelican?
Did you hear what he said? I don't believe him!
Another balancing act
What a flower!
Aren't they amazing, in February?
Very Seussian.
We ate lunch on the water, and were joined by an unusual guest. Heron, anyone?
At first, he hid behind the dock rails, so I got him in pieces. Head:
And body.
A heron divided.
But soon he jumped up, so I could get the full view. Very obliging!
Meanwhile, down at the end, one pelican...
Became two.
I'll hold my beak out, you hold yours down...
The heron jumped down again.
Giving me a good head shot.
After lunch, it was time to head home again. Sigh. But back to Carlos!
The return trip was painless: not full, left early, landed earlier, no traffic on the roads. Nice.
And the moon over the wing was neat too.
Over the wing, and reflected on the wing.
Still to come: shells, and knitting updates. Add "turned a heel on the beach" to my list!
