Thinking Positive; Good Book!

So work has been getting worse and worse, blah blah blah, no one wants to hear it and I don't want to write too specifically about it here anyway. Instead, I'm going to flip from negative to positive thinking. (I know, where did the real ccr go?)

Positive Visualization
I see myself reading a job listing.
It is for a proofreader, possibly with some copy editing as well.
The field interests me, or at least doesn't put me to sleep.
It may use the term "wordsmith".
The location is a good one for me.
It's full time and permanent (no contract/freelance/lack of benefits issue).
I am a little nervous, because it sounds too good to be true, but also excited because this is what I have been waiting for. I immediately go to check my resume and hone my cover letter describing how perfect I am for this job. I submit. I breathe deeply, and smile.
They contact me to set up the interview.
Though I am nervous, I am confident in my abilities, and the interview goes well.
I get an offer. It pays enough to at least pay the bills.
I accept, and prepare to give my notice.
Ahhhhh.
I see it happening. It will happen. Soon.

**************
I didn't want to go to sleep last night, because it meant the weekend was over, and I wasn't ready. Instead, I picked up a new book.

I went to Borders yesterday, lured by a coupon to buy one book and get another half off. And while there, I did something I rarely do: I picked up a book I never heard of, by an author I never heard of, and bought it. And it was good!

The book is called Soulless, by Gail Carriger. The cover mentions that it's "a novel of vampires, werewolves, and parasols"; who wouldn't pick that up? "The Parasol Protectorate: Book the First"? Victorian England, vampires, werewolves, and an independent young lady who happens to have no soul? I had to open it. By page six, it was time to admit that I was charmed, and take it home.

And I did finish it before midnight. But not by much. I didn't want to put it down, which is surely a compliment. And happily, book the second comes out in March, and the third is scheduled for October. Rah!

  1. Yeah, you've gotta put that stuff out into the universe. Sounds good.

That book sounds like awesome beach read. (Too bad it's February.)
