A Small Dose of Perspective

I went to swimming tonight hoping that my pool shoe wouldn't rub against the bug bite on my ankle, and expecting to come out the usual amount of tired and sore. Instead, about two-thirds of the way in, I got an awful, awful foot cramp and it didn't want to go away, and I spent probably ten minutes trying to stretch it out, hanging at the side of the pool instead of exercising, as it got better-worse-better-WORSE and finally receded enough for me to (gently) finish the class and hobble on out.

It feels like it's 98% gone, but the ghost of it is hanging there, waiting for me to move the wrong way. And I'm as tired as if the class ran long.

Tell me again why I'm doing this?

Ow, ow, ow.
