As a final note on my trip to Curacao (Part One; Part Two; related knitting), here's what I brought home with me, other than the memories and a ton of photos.
A passport stamp: I haven't had one in a long time!
A couple of coins.A present for my mother! She has a much-loved shirt that is on its last legs:
Then there's this lovely bowl, which is made from a coconut shell, and lined with something pretty.
I didn't ask if it's actually made in Curacao.
I like it whether it was or wasn't.
At the ostrich farm, I picked up a magnet for the fridge:
Yes, ostrich eggs are big! A literal handful. It came in its own box.
Safely cushioned.
The floating bridge:
A palm tree:
Dushi!
All in all, a perfect reminder of my trip.
Do you like to bring home something to remind you of a trip? Are you an organized collector who always gets the same kind of thing (fridge magnet, shot glass, etc.), or do you pick something different each time?
I usually bring home a tee-shirt or a refrigerator magnet. That egg is gorgeous; I would be tempted although I don't know where I would put it!
ReplyDeleteCool egg, and it will be a nice and festive reminder of your trip.
ReplyDeleteI used to bring home Christmas ornaments. That way, my souvenir wasn't always something that needed to be dusted. I don't wear tee shirts, and my fridge is stainless--won't hold magnets. Now, I don't really bring home anything anymore except maybe wine. That souvenir doesn't last long.
Fun stuff! I love the shirt you got for your mom. So cute! I usually bring home a Christmas ornament or some small memento. Since we always travel carryon only I only bring small things. That said I have a few mugs from places we've been to and I love them.
ReplyDeleteBright and cheerful and fun! Me, I tend to bring home a skein of souvenir yarn. But the best memorabilia was a giant leaf in the colors of Fall given me by my small granddaughter: she was taking a walk in the woods with her mommy and wanted to bring some of it to me.
