Ow, Tactical Error

My doctor recently prescribed a topical treatment for my arthritis, a cream for my hands so that I could cut down on how much ibuprofen I take. How much do I take? Too much, as I tell her when she asks; I know it's too much, but otherwise I'm in pain, and no, Tylenol doesn't work.

So I've been using the cream, and yesterday I decided to cut back on the pills and see if the cream was helping enough for that. Not stop it completely, but took 3/4 of my usual.

The answer was, that would be a big old NO. My hands hurt! I'm back to my regular dose today, and it will probably take a few days for my hands to stop hurting.

I'm thinking that I will keep using the cream, but not mess with cutting down on the pills until after I get back from my trip. Doing it when I'm going to be hauling luggage around isn't the best idea.

Ow....

Tune in tomorrow, when I expect to be griping about how disconcerting it is to wake up to a different alarm tone. I've used the alarm on my iPad for years, but in the last few days, it has started going off too loudly. When I go to turn it down, I see the little volume bar go down, and then right back up. The thing is too close to be for me to need it loud, and waking up flailing has not started my days off well this week.

But my phone alarm doesn't have the same tone available, so we'll see how well the change works.

Change, hmph. Not a fan.

At the risk of being That Person who tells you how to treat your own ailment, for whatever it's worth, the first set of this sort of thing gave me back the use of my hands: https://www.amazon.com/ComfyBrace-Nighttime-Tendonitis-Arthritis-Breathable/dp/B0BXMHW46R/ref=sxbs_pa_sp_search_thematic_btf_sspa?c=ts&content-id=amzn1.sym.abc3135d-7690-41a9-a989-b59538da0220%3Aamzn1.sym.abc3135d-7690-41a9-a989-b59538da0220&cv_ct_cx=Hand%2B%26%2BWrist%2BSupports%2B%26%2BSplints&keywords=Hand%2B%26%2BWrist%2BSupports%2B%26%2BSplints&pd_rd_i=B0BXMHW46R&pd_rd_r=8b0d46a4-50e5-4673-8f7e-147defd05e30&pd_rd_w=CFdh1&pd_rd_wg=TtKOV&pf_rd_p=abc3135d-7690-41a9-a989-b59538da0220&pf_rd_r=1VR4ND7N6HEV72B0EM2Q&qid=1778131238&s=hpc&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sr=1-3-1bea8d9f-7730-4703-a6c3-7636b0f722a4-spons&ts_id=13106341&aref=DllNu2hmQ6&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9zZWFyY2hfdGhlbWF0aWNfYnRm&th=1 They keep my hands from curling up tightly at night and let them rest from, then, the onset of lupus, now, from lots of knitting. 2. Ugh. I hear you. And I'm so sorry. My hand and foot arthritis has been beastly lately, thanks to constant rainy weather.

And Alison, thank you for the links. I often sleep with my hands in a fist, and I know that's part of the problem.
