Under Glass

The other night, Newman was hanging out on top of a glass-top table, so I tried to get a picture from underneath.

Turns out it's hard to do without having a reflection of your phone in the middle.

No phone in this one, but an odd lighting effect:

This seems to be the best I could do:

I took Newman to the vet this week because last week, I noticed that he had scratched enough under his chin to have taken a goodly amount of fur off (as well as some behind the ears). The vet checked him out and wasn't worried, but gave me drops to put in his ears twice daily for a week, and pills to give him twice daily for a month. Whew!

He's actually taking both pretty well, considering, and allows me to purrito him into a towel without drawing blood, but it's not the best part of the day for either of us. Fortunately, he likes the Pill Pockets pretty well, which helps with getting the pills in.

Also fortunately, he doesn't seem to hold a grudge.

  1. TOE BEANS. I appreciate the efforts made to achieve these photos.

Poor Newman. Glad the pills are going okay so far, but a month? Yikes.

    1. I'm just glad the drops are almost done. That's more of a struggle.

  2. He's living his good life, in a good home, taking the pill thing as it comes. He's a lucky cat.

  3. I never thought of there being a reflection of the phone screen. Hm. I certainly appreciate your continued perseverance and the resulting photos. Definitely worth it.

Giving cats medicine is always horrendous. I've had to do eye drops, eye ointments (dragging the ointment across the actual eyeball!), oral drops, pills, and even a suppository. Sigh. NONE OF THESE WAS WITHOUT TERRIBLE CONSEQUENCE.

Here's hoping Newman resigns himself to the routine and you don't suffer for a month.

    1. I think once the drops are done, we're going to be fine with the pills, since he likes eating the Pill Pockets. Fortunately! My brother had a cat once who would eat the Pill Pocket and then spit the pill back out.

  4. Such cute pics! Is he scratching less now that he's on the meds? 🤞

    1. He does seem to be scratching less, actually! Thank heavens. We'll see once the fur grows back how he does.
