Pretty Simple, Really
I saw this thought online today:
I mean, that's apples to apples, right? What's the argument against?
Losing our herd immunity and having a bunch of viruses running rampant does affect everyone though. More so than a personal decision by a woman about her body.
Yes, that's hard to argue. But from what I've read about the Florida vaccine situation, the argument they are making is that "people should be able to make personal health choices for themselves and their families"---this is something the Washington Post says today is JFK Jr's stance, the "fight against health mandates" (again, I'm quoting WaPo, which is not direct-quoting Kennedy there). And by that measure, if you can't force me to get a vaccine to send my kid to school, you can't force me not to have an abortion and make me have the kid in the first place.
Absolutely on target. And so is your response to Margaret, above. The republicans cannot tout themselves as the party of personal freedoms and small government and still regulate the hell out of women's bodies.
Amen amen and amen to all of the above. One can only hope that the news that JFKjr was in the Epstein birthday book embarrasses 47 into finally dumping him.

ReplyDeleteThank you. I truly despair about politics in this country in recent years.
Delete*adds Florida to list of destinations to never visit*
ReplyDeleteI mean, I get that.
DeleteUnfortunately, logic doesn't work on them. This we know. But yes.
ReplyDeleteOh, it very much does not! Which makes my brain hurt.
